Eisaman Equine training grad Flashpoint, already a multiple graded stakes winner, padded his resume Saturday night with a win in the $50,000 Sam Houston Sprint Cup S. at the south Texas track.
The 5-year-old has wins in the Grade 2 Hutcheson S. and Grade 3 Jersey Shore S. to his credit, and showed his back class at Sam Houston, coming from second to wear down front-running Hamiltonian for a hard-fought three-quarter length victory in 1:10.21 for the six furlongs.
Bred in Florida by Silverleaf Farms, Inc., Flashpoint has now won five of 11 starts and earned $333,825. He is owned by John Fort's Peachtree Stable and trained by Steve Asmussen. Fort purchased Flashpoint at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling sale for $100,000.
