Yes I'm Lucky rolled to a four-length score in Calder's $100,000 Frank Gomez Memorial on Saturday to run the Eisaman sales grad's record to a perfect two-for-two.
The 2-year-old colt, trained by Eddie Plesa, Jr., came into the 5 1/2-furlong Gomez off maiden debut win at Monmouth Park three weeks ago. The Kentucky-bred colt handled the jump to stakes company with a confident ride by Mike Smith. After dueling through first three furlongs, Yes I'm Lucky drew clear in the stretch, hitting the wire in 1:06.35 on a “fast” track.
Yes I'm Lucky is owned by Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa, the trainer's wife. By Yes It's True, Yes I'm Lucky is out of Whenthedoveflies, a seven-time stakes winner who was a turf sprint specialist.
Eisaman consigned and sold Yes I'm Lucky at the 2013 OBS Select 2-year-old sale in March, where his owners placed the winning bid of $105,000. Eisaman had bought the colt for $52,000 at the 2012 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
